2017 is the ninth consecutive year that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is in charge of coordinating with ministries, sectors and localities to launch Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week. This year, Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week is scheduled to be held from 1/6/2017 to 8/6/2017 in Ca Mau Province with the theme “Our oceans, our future”.

At the meeting of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee of Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week in 2017, Mr. Vu Si Tuan, Deputy Director of Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands, said that Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week in 2017 would continue to be organized on a national scale with the participation of relevant ministries, sectors and coastal provinces. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ca Mau People’s Committee will chair some activities including: Live meeting ceremony; Launching ceremony of youth volunteer cleaning environment of beaches; stocking fisheries resources in Ramsar area; visiting and giving gifts, distributing medicines for soldiers and people on Hon Chuoi Island (Ca Mau)... Currently, the preparation is being carried out with urgent selection of an event organizer, construction of screenplay, stage scenarios and overall program designed to submit to the leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for approval.
On behalf of the host city organizing Sea and Islands Week in 2017, Deputy Director of Ca Mau Department of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Huu Lac said that Ca Mau People’s Committee had directed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to intensify the close coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in propagating the week on the mass media; to well prepare the organization and implementation of response activities; good logistics and guest welcome; ensure security and traffic safety for the delegations during the ceremony...
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Linh Ngoc assigned the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands as the focal point to lead and coordinate with the relevant units under the Ministry and People's Committees. Coastal provinces will implement the tasks of responding to the Sea and Islands Week in 2017 to ensure the right purposes, requirements, content and achieve the highest quality and efficiency. At the same time, the coordination with the local host institutions and socio-political organizations, economic organizations, businesses must be strengthened to mobilize resources to participate in the implementation of propaganda tasks about the Week as assigned and responsible for the event; to integrate the capital sources of State budget with other attracting and supporting funds in order to ensure the current regimes, policies and regulations.
